John, I'm glad you replied, Kushelhawk seemingly ignored me though it was him who mentioned Genesis first.

Sorry Uschi, it was not my intention to ignore you :knuddel1:

O.K., I think the lamb is a real fantastic song also as "the carpet crawl" (I remember the duett between Michael Sadler and ..... oh god, i forgot the name of the frontman of genesis :-? ) When I'm hearing Genesis I prefer not the oldest songs - the of the middle-timed area (so as from the album Abacab) give me so much "pictures" and than I remember the time of my youth. Long, long ago ...... Also the last album with Phil Collins was a great work; I saw the band in concert with this show and never before (and often after this) I saw anything else ......
Come to me I will give and receive

Thanks, I do appreciate your reply. I'm not really familiar with Genesis I have to admit. When i started to get into prog my path led me away from the more popular groups, always when funds were available some obscure group or other turned up and I postponed buying Genesis for the sake of the more rare stuff.

Thus I managed to get a pretty cool collection of obscure stuff but never got round to the basics. I guess that means I have to get a lottery ticket next weekend :)

Did he replaced Jan Akkerman in Focus?

Jan Akkermann left Focus after the first LP. More info you can find on: http://www.officialfocushomepage.nl/focus_main.htm

Hi, that's right, but Jan Akkerman rejoined the group in the 80s again. Later he also left it again... ;)

Hi,

I really like - besides Saga - lots of synthesizer stuff, especially the music of Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis and Ed Starink.

My favourites album of Jean-Michel Jarre are:

Oxygene, Equinoxe, Rendez-Vous, Chronologie and Oxygene 7-13

His new album Aero isn't that bad and it's even in Dolby Digital 5.1 but it's "only" a best-of compilation. However the surround experience is really impressive! And this year I had the opportunity to meet Jean-Michel himself in Berlin while he presented his new album in Germany.

Vangelis is most famous for his Oscar winning album "Chariots of Fire" and his heroic soundtrack for "1492 - The Conquest of Paradise". But I like most following albums:

Direct, The City, Voices

And my absolutely favourite is Ed Starink. He is a Dutch composer, arranger and musician. In the past he played e.g. for The Beach Boys on the Hammond organ and even for David Bowie on the keyboards. For the Dutch band "Focus" he made some synthesizer programming because he was at this time the specialist in the Netherlands.

My favourite Ed Starink albums are:

Cristallin, Inner Spirits, Retrospection and The Synthfony Album

About Ed Starink I run the official fansite since 2000 together with 2 other fans.

Silent Knight hat geschrieben:I guess I'm getting old cause I still prefer all the bands from before the world was a shithole.

You can add me to that group too... And speaking of the world being a shithole, after November 2nd, it just got a hell of a lot worse. I don't know if you were following the US elections or not, but Bush won a 2nd term, the Republicans now have a larger majority of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and 29 of 50 states now have Republican governors. This is very sad... In the past 4 years America has become a country of stupid people. The Republican voters claimed they were voting Republican for two reasons, Morals and Terrorism. They want morality in America and they vote for George Bush, the biggest liar to ever set foot in the White House? And they expect he will win this so called "War on Terrorism"? He can't even find the terrorists, much less beat them!

Last Friday it was reported on CNN that Osama bin Laden had said that his goal was to bankrupt America. So what do American voters do? Re-elect Bush, of course, the one person who will do everything in his power to make Osama bin Laden get his wish. He doesn't care whether he blows every cent that the next generations of Americans pay in taxes, as long as he keeps his Iraq war going so he can keep playing Commander in Chief. I tell ya, this is one American who is seriously considering moving to Canada.

I'm sorry... I am not happy about this bullshit at all, and I needed to get that out of my system. But I'm ok now. Really... Please forgive my off-topic ranting...

It's ok with me ;)

Americas politics affect Europe very much, so the interest here was accordingly high. German television was covering the election campaign during the last week as the president would have been voted in this country. Just as an indication how much Europeans care.

Dubya is not very popular here and with different media coverage he doesn#t come across quite as credible as he does maybe in the US.
I'm sorry for your country , especially because of the rift that is going through the population,

There is maybe a little, tiny, wee comfort, you'll get lots more of that http://www.dubyaspeak.com/audio.shtml for the next four years.

Uschi hat geschrieben:Dubya is not very popular here and with different media coverage he doesn#t come across quite as credible as he does maybe in the US.

That's what I really don't understand... He doesn't come across as credible at all. He is a typical politician. He says one thing and does exactly the opposite, and people still vote for him. In fact, more people voted for him than any president has ever got in all of American history. It just boggles the mind, I tell ya. And the way the US media is, you know what I have to do to see a real "fair and balanced" news report? Watch the BBC. How sad is that?

I'm sorry for your country , especially because of the rift that is going through the population,

I am truely sad about this. The country I love is literally going to hell... And what makes me even sadder is that a lot of people blame us, the American people, because of what our government does. I had someone from another country say to me that he hated all Americans because of what we do. I asked him how he knows what all Americans do, and he says he sees it on TV. So I told him he didn't see me, my family, or any of my friends on TV, and asked him what reason does he have to hate us? Then he says "Well, maybe not all Americans, but most of them." So I asked him why he believed that, and he says we elected Bush.

So I told him the way our elections really go here. There are about 300 million people in this country. Out of all of them, less than half are old enough to vote, or are registered to vote. Of those who are old enough and are registered, usually less than half of them actually do vote. I think for this election there were just over 110 million votes, which is actually a pretty good turn out, and a little more than half voted for Bush. That means only about 55 million voted for Bush, and the rest, all 245 million of us, didn't.

But he still hates all of us. And how many people think like he does around the world?
