Cover versions.
Hello all.
Anyone have any views on SAGA doing an album full of covers?
A couple of bands have done it recently.
Rush and Def Leppard to name two.
The only two I can remember.
I know that SAGA have covered Peter Gabriel and The Beatles in the past but how about some more, even if done in a light hearted fashion.
I'd love to hear a version of Peter Gabriel's " Here Comes The Flood " or " Red Rain "
Maybe Marillion's " Easter ".
"The Ace Of Spades " - Motorhead is an obvious choice but maybe Brian should save that for a solo album.

Hi Adrian,
Saga covered the Beatles ?
What song please ?
In my opinion covering songs is only ok, if there´s a certain difference to the original song.
Have a nice day

Hello Michael.
They covered " Taxman " and it can be found on Pleasure And The Pain.
I must admit to it not being one of my favourite albums but it's the only one I'm not sure of.

"Taxman" is the title of a song by The Beatles, appearing on the Revolver album and written by George Harrison in 1966

Here's a thought........
How about an instrumental so that Ian can REALLY let rip
How about Gary Moore's 'The Loner' ?
Wouldn't mind hearing the guys do a version of 'Home By The Sea' either

Hello there!
Saga already did some covers in the past... the already mentioned Taxman cover as well as Peter Gabriel's Solsbury Hill (released on "The Works" compilation) and Don't Give Up (released on the "Money Talks" maxi-CD).
I think it would be a nice idea for Saga to do a cover album, but then I would prefer covers in a more sagaish style. The cover of Solsbury Hill for example is really well done, but it sounds almost like the original. Maybe a little bit more fresh sounding than the original... but cover versions of contemporary rocksongs in the style of Saga would be an amazing thing, wouldn't it?
CU, Andy
