Saga on the Radio

Saga on the Radio

Beitragvon daveoprogshow » Mi Okt 04, 2006 10:35 am

Hi Guys,

I've got a prog rock radio show over here in Essex in the UK for a station called PhoenixFM. I know that most of you are outside the broadcast range so I've started podcasting the shows. If anyone wants to have a listen just go to our station's home page (www.phoenixfm.com) where you'll find my ugly mug. Just drag and drop the RSS box into your iTunes (or whatever you use) and you'll get the show ... it's free!! And I don't do adverts, either!

The first podcast is out and I'm working on the second where I'll be featuring some of Saga's new album, Trust, on it. Which track do you think I should play? I'm up for That's As Far As I'll Go, which I think is a cracking opener that sets the standard and the pace for the rest of the album. However, I'm open to suggestions, your suggestions, about what's the best track to thrust upon a sleepy Essex audience to wake them up to the joys of Saga. In fact, any ideas at all about what I should be playing would be great.

If you get a chance to have a listen to the 'cast, let me know what you think of the show as I'm always trying to make it better. One day, I'm going to make a difference ...

Bye for now,

DaveO

Hi Dave

Will definately give you a listen, it's about time someone made a stance in radio and varied the playlists a bit. (Anyone who listens to Planet Rock will know what I mean)

Keep rocking

Thanks Gudrun and Mrs. C, your support means a lot to me. It is about time that the playlists on radio reflected the type of music we like to listen too. :D

I also like Celtic Legacy - When a Stranger Comes :D
but I think it is not Progrock :hm:

Have you heard any of the Afro Celt Soundsystem? The put Celtic melodies to driving ethnic tempos that leave you wide-eyed and wanting more (IMHO). They're not what we would call "progressive" but, in the true sense of the word they have taken a style of rock and progressed it so, I suppose, they fit under progs very wide umbrella.

Hello Daveo.
I will try to tune in.
Keep up the good work.

I don't know how old you are or even if you have been to our home town but we used to have a rock club here.
I was privileged to have been resident DJ for a few years.
Anyone who went will tell you that "he never played what we asked for".
Maybe not in some cases but I was guilty of playing SAGA which did create interest.
Many stories to tell but won't bore you (Mrs.C yawning in the background).
Website to check out is www.thegranaryclub.co.uk.

As you will see from the site,we hold reunions now and again.
Yes I did play some SAGA at the last one I did.
And yes it did create some interest.
Keep it going Dave.
It's not over until it's over.

Hi Adrian,

Seen your club's website ... imprssive list of bands! I have been to Bristol ( a great place) but never to the club, so it's my loss. I'm in my mid 40's but only in body, as my mind was lost may years ago!

I hope you like the show, if you get to listen to it.

2nd DaveO Prog Show Podcast

Beitragvon daveoprogshow » Sa Okt 14, 2006 1:33 pm

The 2nd 'cast is up and live as I type. If you get a chance to have a listen that would be great. Again, if anyone has any ideas on what I should be playing then please let me know. This 'cast includes some Saga amongst others. Remember, all our prog podcasts are free to download and don't contain any commercials or annoying jingles to ruin the music! Now, that can't be bad, eh?

Please enjoy.
