Ich wuerde gerne hier die eine oder andere Albumbesprechung und andere Pressebereichte sammeln.
Und hier ist die erste Review!!!

Saga - Trust

Lange nichts mehr gehört, zumindest nichts, was an die alten Qualitäten erinnert

Doch seit ”Trust” sind alle Hoffnungen auf eine kreative Rock-Rente berechtigt. Alles wieder beim Alten, und zwar im positivsten Sinne. Sie sind anspruchsvoller geworden. Die rumorenden Synthesizer-Bässe sind nur ein Aspekt und nicht mehr so bestimmend wie früher. Keyboard-Läufe der schrägen Art, als hätte sich Fripp an die Tasten gesetzt. Die Stimme scheint die Jahrzehnte unbeschadet überstanden zu haben, wird häufig von Dopplungen und Chor gehypt. Trotz gestiegener ProgRock-Elemente ist die bekannte Refrain-Harmonie erhalten geblieben. Ein erstaunlich frischer Edel-Rock, dessen mit etlichen Sound-Ideen angereicherte Eigenständigkeit auch übers Fan-Reservoir hinaus neues Publikum verdient hat.

Folgende Kritik kann man auf der EMP-Mailorder-Seite finden:

30 Jahre Musikgeschichte und über acht Millionen verkaufter Tonträger sprechen für sich. Saga sind anno 2006 agiler und motivierter denn je. "Trust" ist ein progressives Feuerwerk, ein erstklassiges, sinfonisches und melodisches Progressive Rock Album.

Vertrauen ist eines der wichtigsten Dinge bei zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen. Für das endlose Vertrauen danken die kanadischen Progressive-Rocker von Saga ihren Fans mit dem nunmehr 17. Studioalbum. In den über 30 Jahren ihrer Existenz hat die Combo um Sänger und Keyboarder Michael Sadler Musikgeschichte geschrieben und sie fühlen sich anno 2006 fideler denn je. "Trust" ist ein vielseitiges Album, das trotz vieler Experimente auch wieder zu den Roots zurückkehrt. So finden wundervolle Balladen wie "My friend" ebenso ihren Platz wie rockige Nummern der Marke "I'm ok". Hier heißt es zurücklehnen und genießen. Gitarren und Keyboards bieten sich virtuose Duelle und geben dem sinfonischen Sound seinen speziellen Flair. Das dies auch richtig heavy sein kann beweist der überraschend harte und gleichfalls sehr futuristische Titelsong "Trust". Der Funke springt sehr schnell über und durch den Einsatz von Bläsern und teils orientalischen Instrumenten bekommt das Album einen gewissen World Music Charakter. Saga gehören lange noch nicht zum alten Eisen und bei den Progressive Spezialisten von InsideOut haben sie die perfekte Heimat gefunden. (Markus Wosgien / 25.03.2006)

Comments: Canadian melodic proggies SAGA strike again! Being a carrier of the flame for the genre for many years, the band, centered around the charismatic Michael Sadler and the Crichton brothers, delivers their 17th studio album in a career spanning 30 years. Though the band has always stayed true to their unique sound, the quintet has managed to drift all over the musical landscape, capturing influences and moods from all over the globe and every genre possible. From the melodic AOR era with (the underrated) "Wildest Dreams" all the way to the metallic soundscapes on "Steel Umbrellas". Lately however, Saga has revived the sound of their first (highly acclaimed) records …

Trust offers more of the expected. The massive and pompous keyboard sound, in combination with the razor sharp and blistering guitar playing of virtuoso Ian Crichton, over the innovative and agile playing of the band's rhythm section (with new drummer Brian Doerner), still captures the imagination of many fans world wide. Without doubt, these ingredients and Sadlers warm and powerful voice, are the trademark of Saga … A sound truly unique!

And still, the Canucks throw in some twists and surprises like the folk tones in "On the Other Side." The keyboard pumped opener "That's As Far As I'll Go," breaks the ice with its raging keyboards and lightning fast short guitar solo. The choirs are massive and the lyrics gripping with the mark of the band's neo classical background. "Back To The Shadows" and "I'm OK" again consist of the Saga ingredients. Especially the multi-layered vocals and choirs are finger licking on these tracks.

"Time To Play" is slightly more hectic and has a futuristic undertone and rap-like vocals. "My Friend" (complete with wood-wind players!) is an intimate moment with an acoustic intro and colourful warm singing of Jim Gilmour. It is reminiscent to the band's fragile masterpiece "No Regrets" which it equals warmth and emotion to unload some sheer prog power in the following title track. "It's Your Life" bears the "Silent Knight" mark with its powerful bombastic keyboards and 'bitchy' guitar riffing. Crichton's unique staccato playing is fast, furious and crystal clear. Unheard elsewhere! "Footsteps In The Hall" and "Ice In The Rain" offer some more sheer power prog, bursting into "You Were Right" which is more furious and build around a strong riff and ear mingling refrain. The previously mentioned "On The Other Side" is a treat for spoiled Saga addicts. The Irish sounding folk intro and melancholic undertones sweep us back to the merry go round days of our childhood. The interaction between organ, guitar, synth bass and vibraphone arpeggio stirs up their sound slightly, to re-embark onto solid ground with the huge melodies and choirs of classic Saga.

The course set 30 years ago leads the Canucks to Trust. Trust -- the word used in various different situations from painful, frustrating and hopeful, covering our most intimate thoughts and feelings to cling onto. It is that word that Saga uses to perhaps regain trust of thank the fans for it. Fact is that this again is a multi facetted and gripping melodic powerful prog release from the Canadian masters.

Trust simply adds up to the catalogue of Saga, without stirring up the basics. The digipack edition comes with a DVD "The making of…".
