Tourdates 2009 - London?

Beitragvon wilkie UK » Do Feb 19, 2009 8:05 pm

I'd like to recommend The Peel in south-west London. It's close enough for easy access, but far enough out to not incur many of the associated costs that come with normally playing in London.
If anyone wants to contact them, I can pass on their contact details. :D

It's a smashing place; the people who run it are music fans too. They are building a recording studio into the basement....

Considering the pathetic turnout the last time SAGA came to London, I'd think they're likely to avoid us altogether. That said, they need to take a leap of faith and give it another try. I agree The Peel would be a good venue. In fact with It Bites touring with them, they'd probably sell out as they, unfortunately, have a higher profile in the UK than SAGA.
I've never understood why they've never really made it in this country. I remember the first headline gig they did at the Lyceum in the Strand (after those dates supporting STYX). A fantastic gig but many turned up expecting something in the mould of RUSH, and SAGA have never been that.
We've never really appreciated them here which is a real shame for the few die hard fans in the UK, because more often than not, any European tour by the band has excluded the UK completely.
Sadly, I expect it will be no different this time!

Anyway it seems like many Britains don't appreciate their "own" music or good music in general, I heard that also Iron Maiden are not so loved in their own country :pirat:

It's generally not 'trendy' to like rock music, of any sort. Iron Maiden won a 'Best British live act' as the recent BRITS awards, but even that was poorly reported in the press.

The Peel would be a great venue, especially as the band wouldn't incur many of the costs, normally associated with playing the over-priced venues in central London.

If I can help the band play in the UK, just let me know what I can do. :D :D :D :D :D

Hm... Sad... Yeah, I was really surprised that they've won the Brit Award, but with this show, it was ridicolous if they wouldn't win...

It's quite funny that you mention Maiden.
I happen to know for a fact that there were TWO members in attendance at the last SAGA London show.

OK, let`s talk about another GREAT band coming from Great Britain, Uriah Heep. They also have been always a very special band with a very own sound, standing on the SAME level as bands like Led Zeppelin / Deep Purple with sensational albums during the Box-Aerea.
