Setlist
CORKENTELLIS
THE FLYER
TRUST
CAREFUL WHERE YOU STEP
WIND HIM UP
YOU WERE RIGHT
ON THE AIR
BOOK OF LIES
SCRATCHING
THAT'S AS FAR AS I'LL GO
IT NEVER ENDS
HUMBLE STANCE
DON'T BE LATE
ON THE LOOSE
There was very little promotion done for this show so unfortunately there weren't that many people there. However, Rob had them singing along to Don't Be Late and he did get the standing ovation after it. He took total ownership of it.
They were phenomenal on stage, as always. I've never seen them be anything less than pro's no matter what the circumstances. It was also a joy to see the band happy on stage. I like happy bands.
And there were shirts being sold at the gig.
Rob CAN sing - full stop. End of discussion. Period!
One thing we did notice is how beautifully his voice mesh with Jim G, who played like he had grown an additional 2 arms. Anyone worried about songs sounding weird, now that there is one less person on stage playing an instrument, can relax and exhale. There is no need to worry at all.
People after the show were using words such as "awesome!", "GREAT!", "wonderful!", "Glad I didn't miss this!"
And I agree with every word they said.
I can't wait for the new CD and see them on stage with new material.
I am glad I extended my stay here to see this. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Given that it was the band's first gig with a new singer I was prepared to see a "not so perfect" show figuring they'd all probably be incredibly nervous, esp. Rob. What the he** was I thinking??? This is Saga!!! They put on an awesome show that blew me away. And Rob: He fit right in. He has an amazing voice, sounded great and was very well received by the audience, they loved him. Does he sound exactly like Saga's old singer - no he doesn't but I think that's a good thing. When you replace a singer with one that sounds just a little bit different it gives the band a "fresh" sound and keeps it interesting. The songs are still amazing, after all it's the same band just with a new front man. Rob made a very good first impression and won the audience over right away. He seems like a perfect fit for the band, musically and personality wise. A really nice guy with a great attitude, passion for music and an amazing set of pipes!
Congratulations Saga on the sucessful start of a new chapter in the band's history
and
Welcome Rob!

Special Guest at the show last night
The show was so captivating that nobody evan noticed Michael Sadler standing in the back of the room for the whole night!
Even HE couldn't resist seeing Rob's first performance with the band.

A couple of people actually did notice him before the show (a baseball hat as a disguise? Nope, not working!) but they didn't seem to care that he was there.
