Fragen an Ian Crichton / Questions to Ian Crichton
Liebe Fans.
Viel Spass!
Susi

Dear fans,
This new part of the forum has been set up on the band's request.
We will collect your questions and forward them to the band. Please keep your questions concise, as only those will be answered.
Ultimately, all this is going to form a "Fan interview" which will be published at Saga Germany.
Fire away, here's where you can ask what you always wanted to know

Hi Ian,
on stage you seem to be rather concentrated and serious. The way you are playing guitar is very difficult concerning the rhythm as well as the speed, isn´t it ?

Re: Blue guitar
Here is Ian's answer:
Ian Crichton hat geschrieben: the blue guitar is a Lado, It was made in Toronto by a (now 64 year old) guitar maker, He's originaly from Yugoslavia, came to Toronto in the 50's, started up his guitar company LADO, his name is Joe Kocovic, not world known.

Hi Ian,
Thanks a lot for your answer. You've made my day
I will search more on there site.
But when a concert near Romania, in Prague or even Budapest? There are many SAGA fans here.
Keep on running!
Friendly,
Bill

hi ian
i am a fan of you and your way of playing guitar. i try everyday to copy your licks (well, i do my own licks, aswell) but some of them are impossible to copy without a songbook or anything else (for example the fast solo in "see them smile" or the instrumental-section in "the runaway") ... now my Question: how do you create these solos/licks ? and is there any possibility to get your fast licks as cheet music?

Hi Ian. A question about early amplification! I know recently you are using the Deizel heads, and before, the Peavey 5150. I'm not sure when you started with the 5150, maybe Behaviour? It is before this, where I am curious! The Heads or Tales sound was awesome, but different from Worlds Apart. I'm guessing Marshall on Worlds Apart? Maybe a processor, or effected Marshall on Heads or Tales? Before that, the first three albums had a cohesive tone to them, could you elaborate on those? Again, I'm thinking Marshall amps, but some of your solos are boosted, like in Tired World! I love that tone! What was the signal chain there? Thanks so much!

Hi Ian
I have no question, but I must say to you - it means that Steve Lukather is the world's best rock guitarist. This will also be the case, but Ian Crichton is for me also number one!!

Hi Ian,
many of your fans ( and guitar players ) would like to have some hints,
how to play some of your fantastic licks.
Some other "how-to-plays" can be found on youtube or else.
Maybe you could do the same for us. That would be really great.

White Strat
Hello Ian,
You got a very unique sound from the White Stratocaster you had in the early 80's. Was it modified, or stock? Can you help a little with what kind of Strat that was back then? Also, do you still have it?
Thanks in advance!
