SAGA is NOT done. The rest of the band is still going to be there..
I'ts Michael that's leaving the group and the band will still be there.

I think the same as you Saga Norway, it's NOT the end of Saga. Saga has always been a band with all great musicians. Sure a singer is hard to replace but I think it can work.

I know that they will not end.
I got a message today from one from the band,
and he did say that they will carry on without Michael :D

Yes, ok Saga is not 'done'. I am glad Ian, Jim and Jim will continue....and I will follow them. But 'the' Saga' I have loved is done. it is done and you can not tell me it isn't. Saga will be a new band now without Michael. So I mourn the loss of Saga. It is a very sad day in my life.

30 years is a very long time and what a time that was...
Just two words on my mind: Respect & Thank you

I`ll like seeing things positively and believe it opens new possibilities for both sides.
As much as I am looking forward to SAGA`s anniversary & farewell shows, I am looking forward to loads of new songs and freshed up setlists!
Don`t be fooled by what you see...

I go along with this statement. Michael is a talented signer and a big part of Saga but there are other good signers out there.

We must also remember that other bands have lost their lead signer and have gone to bigger success. Think of (not same type of music but as an example) AC/DC - Van Halen - Even Genesis had much more success when Phil took on the mike.

It is sad to see Michael go but the major creative force (all remaining members together) are still present.

I truly hope that they will keep on going.

Long live Saga !

Saga is history after the year 2007. What happend to genesis after Phil left? What happend to Supertramp after Rodger Hudson left...you can find examples in both ways but SAGA will lose a lot of fans when they continue without Michael. The question is, if this is still profitable for them. What will the record company decide, what will happen to the endorsement contracts etc.
Michael is not just the voice, he is arranger,composer,keyboard/piano/bass player and a great creative musican. SAGA is unique in many ways and if you change the key parameters the magic is lost and it does not work any longer.

From insideout homepage:

Getting out while going’s still good: Sadler leaves Saga

With the latest album ‘Trust’ Saga were in best form and on top of that the band celebrates their 30th anniversary with the fans in 2007 – but now it’s official: At the end of the year vocalist Michael Sadler takes his leave of the Canadians.
It is said that Sadler leaves for personal reasons and whether the band continues to carry on or not remains to be seen. Nevertheless, reason enough to celebrate their anniversary big times: A farewell tour is under way, in spring ‘Worlds Apart Revisited’ will be released as double CD, double DVD and limited edition and, moreover, a lavishly enhanced Saga rarity collection is currently under consideration.

Word is circulating now around the Web.

Still seems like a dream to me. Can not believe I actually read Michael is leaving the band.

Indeed, a very sad day. Something great, something that has been part of my live since my 13th anniversary will come to an end soon...however it will go on, it´s not gonna be the same, that´s for sure.

Looking back to Saga´s latest history I can imagine many reasons of the "why" but I do not want to speculate about it. Let´s see what Michael has to say. I hope he´s gonna be 100% honest to us.

How will these highly skilled musicians go on? Each of them is a genious, together they were something unique. A split up at this point of their careers is tragic as the possibility of a reunion is very small. I was calculating with 5 more years of Saga but perhaps it´s just consequent to put it to an end after 30 years.

Hopefully we gonna hear a lot of great music from Michael, Steve and the remaining Saga in the future. Thanks for 30 sepectacular years and all the stuff coming up in the future. I know it´s gonna be high quality music, perhaps somthing quite new/different/innovative. It will be interesting to see and I will follow every step of all of them...hopefully live as well....although it will be more difficult to fill the venues as the original Saga has come to its end. Still can´t believe it.....

I have agree with Kenny here.
He has made a good point. Marillion - Fish a couple of years in.
Genesis - Peter Gabriel a couple of years in.

I too feel that the length of time could be a factor.
I don't think SAGA are over but as in the bands I've mentioned, things are not going to be the same.
I WILL go to see them without Michael, and wish all of SAGA best wishes in whatever they decide.

Anyway there is a whole year to go.

IT 'AINT OVER 'TIL IT'S OVER.
It's not over until it's over.
