Information on "Saga - Live in Dortmund 1981"
Hello Everybody!
I am reaching out here because I really would appreciate it if someone could help me with info on the "Rock und Pop Concert" from Dortmund 1981??
I got this DVD in a trade this summer and am currently working on a custom dvd cover for it. To make it kind of "professional looking" it would be nice to know more about this broadcast. What I am looking for is any information about this recording. It was taped by the German Tv-channel ZDF but no credits are left in my version. I would like to know about DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, SOUND etc... anything that you might know. My dvd version was made by someone called "Shape 2003".
So if you know anything about this feel free to contact me at my e-mail:
ekloef@hotmail.com
Looking forward to hear from you!

Hello!
Yes, I might give ZDF a try. However my five years of german might not be enough. I will try to write them in english...
I am also not sure how to ask them...? They probably own the content of this DVD and might frown upon this? But then again it is really old and lets be honest does not have the highest commercial value...
The quality of the recording is not the best... your typical VHS transfer recorded in the eighties.... if you know what I mean.
Wouldn´it be amazing if the re-broadcasted the concert or even better released officialy?
Let me just add that the cover I am doing is coming along really nice.
Thanks for taking to time write!

Hi There!
That is great news! I just wrote to ZDF to ask some questions...
I would really appreciate it if you found any information Susi.
Here is a "sneak-preview" of the DVD cover I am making. Remember it is "work-in-progress" and some elements are missing and it might change before it is done.
Kind Regards, Robtch - Sweden

I absolutely agree, Had I known about he official release before, I do no think I have started this little project.
But coming this far I really wanted to finish it.
I am all for official releases so I would encourage everyone to get "the real thing" because this concert is great! Seeing Michael Sadler´s moustache is worth buying it alone...
Thanks for all your input! You are doing a great job you know!

Answer from ZDF
Here is the answer I got from ZDF. I must say there were very quick in replying and it was some interesting reading however they failed to give me the info about director, producer etc that I asked for. Still, A big thanks to them and here you can read it:
Dear Mr.
thank you for your e-mail to ZDF.
The requested concert was produced 1981 in the Westfalenhalle Dortmund for our
programme "Rockpop in concert" and broadcasted on January 9 in 1982:
Rockpop in concert (Length ca. 200 min.) - with: Saga, Foreigner, Meat Loaf and
Spliff
Unfortunatelly there's no repetion scheduled at present.
To order a recording of this programme on DVD or VHS you can direct your request
to our department "Programmservice". Please pay attention to:
The possibility and the costs of buying a recording depends on the state of
rights and material we've got.
It has to be proofed in every single case.
In either case it will be more expensive than a regular videorelease because it
will be made only the requested recording for you.
Please contact the following department, which will inform you about the
possibilities and costs in line with your information:
ZDF

Please state your full name, address, the exact title and date of the programme
(if possible) and its purpose of use for you.

sorry - no, Rockpalast was on air at ZDF Thats the truth, because the moderator of the show was Thomas Gottschalk. And he is "married" sice the begin of his work with RTL and ZDF.

Imho he started as Radio-DJ on Bayern 3 and Rockpalast is a WDR production and both stations belong to ARD...kuschelhawk hat geschrieben:sorry - no, Rockpalast was on air at ZDF Thats the truth, because the moderator of the show was Thomas Gottschalk.
